Self-Care Routine – Setting the mood before a self-care routine is critical. Start by playing relaxing music and lighting a favorite scented candle – Anantara’s Spa manager, Sheila Ong, recommends using aromatherapy candles if you have them. When the ambiance is set, start by creating a homemade sugar body scrub. Brown sugar is an inexpensive and accessible ingredient that also makes for a great skin exfoliator. Brown sugar is gentler on the skin than sea salt or Epsom salt, those with sensitive skin are better off using brown sugar. The sugar granules might make the skin feel sticky, so rinse thoroughly after exfoliating. Ingredients include  1/2 cup brown sugar, 1/2 cup oil of your choice (coconut, jojoba, olive, almond, or grapeseed), 3-5 drops of essential oils (optional), Lavender (relax), Citrus(uplifting), Rose Geranium (anti-anxiety).

Directions: Combine brown sugar and oil into a mixing bowl and mix thoroughly. If needed, add more sugar or oil to get the consistency right. If desired, add four or five drops of your favorite essential oil and stir into the mixture. When satisfied with the consistency and fragrance of your scrub, spoon it into a container. If there are leftovers, you may place them in your fridge. The mixture will last about one month.

You may accompany the homemade sugar scrub with our Anantara Massage Signature Oil as a finishing touch to your self-care routine. Ingredients: Vetiver, Sandalwood, Ginger, (Sunflower oil, Rosemary oil-Carrier oil). Benefit: It helps to warm the body, reduce anxiety, improved sleeping quality, and cures migraines.

At-Home Workout Tips – Anantara’s Spa manager, Sheila, has also shared a few activities that could help destress during or after a long workday. These include shoulder rotation, torso rotation, standing quad stretch, walking knee stretch, plank to downward dog tap, squat, donkey kick, crunches, heels taps and t-spine windmill stretch, watch it on Instagram.
